I am almost 40 years old and for the last 15 years I have been unhappy about being overweight. However, despite yo-yo dieting for all that time, I finally reached my own personal low, decided to listen to my sister and get a personal trainer.
I was very apprehensive about exercising, and what having a trainer would mean, but any fears I had were allayed as soon as I met Sue.
Having your blood pressure and body measurements taken is never a nice experience and coupled with talking about eating habits should have been my worst nightmare, but because Sue dealt with it in a professional but sensitive way it was like an unburdening of years of guilt and shame. I had an image of a Drill Sergeant barking orders to "drop and give me 20!" but the reality is completely different.
Sue is always bubbly and outgoing which is completely infectious and manages to encourage you to achievement you never thought possible. Her professional approach gives you the confidence to try new things without fear of failure.
I could go on and on about the fantastic way that Sue breaks the exercises down into manageable amounts, or that I have never had that aching feeling the following day or that I can now get into clothes I haven't been able to for years! But the one thing I will go on about is how fabulous Sue has helped me to feel.
I was seriously considering weight-loss surgery before I started to exercise and now those thoughts have gone. I have brought my blood pressure down to a more normal range and I feel fabulous.
Having Sue to train with is like having a guide on a long journey giving you directions and encouragement along the way so you can take in the scenery as you go. My journey has only just begun, but I already like what I am seeing. Exercise? Bring it on! |
